Then we stopped at Istana Negara or National Palace, the official residence of the King and Queen of Malaysia. It stands on a 28 acre site, located at a commanding position on the slope of a hill of Bukit Petaling overlooking the Klang River. The palace courtyard is enhanced by immaculate green lawns and luscious colorful gardens, surrounded by a wide black/gold colored fence and dazzlingly beautiful entrance gate.

The palace is the venue for official functions and ceremonies. Visitors can witness the changing of the guards daily from the main gate. The palace is not open to the public.
